Biography

Dr. Leslie Goo studies the immune response to flaviviruses, which are transmitted to humans by mosquitoes and ticks and are significant threats to public health around the globe. They include dengue virus, West Nile virus, Zika virus, Japanese encephalitis virus and yellow fever virus. To understand the mechanisms behind immunity and disease development, she explores how immune proteins known as antibodies interact with viral and cellular factors. Her research addresses both fundamental and translational questions, including those relevant to the development of vaccines and antiviral drugs.
