Biography 

Evelyn is a Kenyan clinician and health systems strengthening specialist with nearly 20 years of experience, supporting large-scale, integrated programs addressing HIV, tuberculosis (TB), and reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health (RMNCH). 

Evelyn has worked with implementing partners supporting the  Ministry of Health (MOH) and managing HIV and TB programs for USAID and CDC, efforts to accelerate COVID-19 vaccine uptake in Kenya, and working on the Exemplars in Global Health for Gates Ventures focused on health systems and partnership and impact work streams. She has also worked with the  International Program in Public Health Leadership (IPPHL) at the University of Washington, Evans School of Public Policy supporting implementation and delivering learning experiences for fellows from over 20 African countries and as a teaching assistant for Global  Health  (GH 101) undergraduate course in the Department of Global Health at UW.  Her expertise spans program design and implementation, systems thinking, health leadership, clinical decision-making and leveraging data to drive program improvement and serve populations underserved by formal health systems. Evelyn also holds federal acquisition contracting and agreement officer's representative (COR/AOR) level II certification.

Evelyn is a candidate in the Doctor of Global Health Leadership and Practice program. Her doctoral research centers on optimizing the design and performance of community health systems, with a focus on empowering community health workers to deliver effective primary healthcare. She explores the intersection of policy landscapes, systemic drivers, and barriers that impact the success of these systems. Evelyn’s expertise spans primary health care, HIV and TB care, and gender-based violence (GBV) prevention. Building on her extensive experience in quality improvement processes, integrated healthcare systems, and health systems strengthening, Evelyn is committed to advancing global health policy and leadership. Through her doctoral work, she aims to contribute to innovative strategies that enhance the resilience and effectiveness of health systems worldwide.
