Dr. Bennett is a physician scientist focused on maternal child health for vulnerable populations in the US and in low and middle income countries (LMICs) with particular focus on perinatal depression. He has expertise in implementation science and the use of strategies to support implementation of evidence based practices for the enhancement of mental health services in primary care settings. He has ongoing global mental health research projects in Vietnam, Nigeria, and Peru targeting perinatal depression. A significant amount of his research focus has been in the use of technologies to support the use of evidence based care models in these primary care settings and he is a co-investigator in the UW ALACRITY center targeting implementation of evidence based psychosocial interventions through user centered design. He is also the director of the Healthier Washington Resource Portal (waportal.org) a technology platform developed through participatory design strategies to support large scale behavioral health integration. Dr. Bennett is a family physician providing full spectrum primary care including obstetric, family planning, pediatric and general adult health care.
