Dr. Nielsen is a pediatric critical care provider at Seattle Children's Hospital and Harborview Medical Center. In addition to providing clinical care in the PICU, she engages in clinical research with collaborators at Instituto Nacional de Salud del Nino in Lima, Peru. Her primary research interests are in strengthening health systems involved in caring for critically ill children in resource-limited settings. Recent projects have included identifying emergency department risk factors that predict clinical deterioration during hospitalization and the implementation of nasal high flow oxygen for respiratory failure in children less than 5 years of age.
