Malaria Evolution in South Asia
This program project looks at how evolution of malaria parasites effects drug resistance, infection and immunity, cytoadhesion leading to disease, and interaction with mosquito vectors. The program includes partners from the US (University of Washington, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Center for Infectious Disease Research, Harvard) and in India at the Ministry of Health (NIMR, RMRC), State Medical Colleges (Goa Assam, Tripura, Orissa), Industry (Steal Authority of India Ltd), and academic centers (Indian Institute of Technology-Mumbai).
Funding is provided by the US NIH Center of Excellence for Malaria Research - South Asia (NIH ICEMR).
