The Department of Global Health is pleased to announce that Abraham Guizar has accepted the position of Director of Finance and Administration. “I have great confidence that Abraham has the experience, skillset, personality, and attitude necessary to lead DGH as the next Director of Finance and Administration,” said Interim DGH Chair Dr. Carey Farquhar. “He understands the advantages and challenges of sitting in SPH and SOM and the complexity of navigating our decentralized CPI model.

Abraham has been with DGH since 2018, first as Associate and then as Interim Director of Finance and Administration. During this time, Abraham worked closely with colleagues across DGH to collaborate on streamlining systems and processes and introduce new technologies. Prior to DGH, Abraham was Director of Process Improvement and Analytics at Centene, where he launched and led a new continuous process improvement department, focusing on access to care for underserved populations.

“I am proud to be part of an organization working to improve health for all through research, education, training, and service,” said Abraham. “DGH’s greatest strength is the interdisciplinary collaboration of faculty, staff, and students. I am here to serve the people in this department so they can continue to reach the heights of the DGH mission and strategy.”

As DGH Director of Finance and Administration, some of Abraham’s goals include continuing to improve efficiency in workflows and increasing opportunities for professional development. He also wants to focus on dialing-in the best collaborative practices for remote, in-person, and hybrid environments.

Abraham wants to help the department continue to grow along the path of diversity, equity, and inclusion. “I believe bolstering people’s strengths and magnifying their work creates opportunities for innovation. I will provide the tools and support people need to put our mission into practice. A leader’s role is to serve.”
