China’s role in global health is expanding rapidly due to a confluence of factors, including its role as a major economic force, support from the Chinese Ministry of Health, and growing interest among Chinese university faculty and students.
Adjunct Research Professor Annette Fitzpatrick has been named the new SPH Assistant Dean for Graduate Education, overseeing the Office of Student Affairs, guiding curriculum changes, and creating partnerships across UW and the community, among other initiatives. Dr. Fitzpatrick is a Research Professor in the Departments Family Medicine, Epidemiology, and Global Health (adjunct) with expertise in aging and chronic disease focusing on hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and dementia in US and global settings. Faculty member Aaron Katz's passion is researching health care markets, policy and outcomes. Katz is an Adjunct Principal Lecturer of Global Health in addition to his appointment as Principle Lecturer of Health Services.
Forget cake and ice cream. For her 13th birthday, Judith Wasserheit got a cadaver. The gift was from her mother who, as chair of Special Anatomy at the first Podiatric Medical School in the United States, was able to provide a very special introduction to the human body. The two would dissect the cadaver together on weekends at the morgue.
